Michael Tyrrell at Bea-utiful Design & Print took on Business Administration Apprentice Leia Skinner to help support his growing start up business.
‘As a new start up, our first employee being an Apprentice was a huge advantage. We were able to select from applicants that the college had already interviewed ensuring a good match and only strong applicants. Then, once we had employed Leia, the course structure was there to educate both the apprentice and us as a business. There was help with elements of training, creating systems and policies that have assisted everyone's development greatly.’
‘Leia has now finished her apprenticeship and she has a very bright future with us, she is an asset to the business. She is now going on to do Leadership Training so that we can bring in new employees under her management in the near future. I can’t thank the Apprenticeship team at SCCH enough for their support.’
Leia said, ‘I feel that becoming an apprentice was the ideal place to start my career.’
‘It has enabled me to secure a job that I love, whilst learning and getting paid for it. I’ve learnt a diverse range of skills for my role within the company, not just from the apprenticeship scheme but also from my mentor and colleagues who have knowledge and experience that they are more than happy to pass on.’
‘I have thoroughly enjoyed being an apprentice at Bea-utiful Design & Print, and look forward to completing my Leadership Training and my future at the company.’
